(iHealthWire.Org)Residential Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Clinic in Thailand

Channah Thailand, a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic in Thailand is leading the way in private treatment for substance misuse clients.

Simon Gunn, Director:  “I saw a need for a proper rehabilitation clinic in Asia for English speaking people.  Most countries in the region don’t treat people experiencing life threatening problems with substance misuse, instead they are marginalized and criminalized by society.  In Thailand, other than a detox facility at a local monastery, or out patient care there is no other dedicated drug and alcohol programme in Asia up to the standards you would expect in a Western country or they are just not equipped to work with English speaking clients.

“Our original goal was to help expatriates, living and working in Asia, however once the word started getting out we ended up receiving enquiries (and clients) from all around the world, including several celebrities and high profile individuals.  We have found that people that are very well known in their own country can come here with very little chance of being recognized, so their treatment stays as it should, a private affair.  We operate very strict confidentiality rules to ensure all clients, not just celebrities, can relax knowing they can get on with the programme and not worry about people knowing what they are doing in Thailand.”

At the Channah clinic you don’t feel like you are in a medical setting; the grounds are more akin to strolling through a jungle garden with beautifully scented flowers and tropical birds singing in the background.  Your private bungalow is tucked in amongst the trees and greenery.

Upon arrival, the staff are there to greet you and take your belongings to your bungalow.  McLovein the resort mascot, a 3 month old English Bulldog, is always around to escort his new friends and be sure they are settled in.  At Channah the clients are treated with respect and dignity, more like a family member then a patient.

After arrival all new guests receive a full medical examination before their course begins.

The clinic's intensive course blends individual and group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a range of physical fitness and relaxation sessions. Clients receive 21 hours of individual and group therapy sessions weekly, including 3 sessions of one-to-one therapy and relapse prevention.

Simon Gunn, “What we have done here is taken the best of every other centre in the world and put it all together in one place.  There is no point re-inventing the wheel but there is no reason you can’t improve upon it.”

Channah Thailand is a unique one-of-a-kind clinic, which is placed in a beautiful and private resort setting of luscious tropical landscape bordering the stunning River Kwai. A visit here is more akin to a working holiday, whilst undergoing a rehabilitation programme that is personal, private, and progressive.

When you leave you will be in better physical and mental condition than you have been in years; the goal is to send you home ready to succeed.
